Final Evaluation of all work

In the beginning of this assignment I was very unsure of what I was doing. But as I've gone on I've began to understand the brief and feel I'm a lot more confident in myself and my work. Over the past few months I've learned a lot of new skills such as stop motion, filming and how to make flyers/posters etc. I think if I was to use all of these new skills now to create a 'Band Identity' the outcome would be creative and well produced.
I think my strongest work in this assignment so far has been the stop motion films. My research showed me the scale of how much is possible to do with this technique so I didn't have any limits when it came to designing an idea. My initial experiments flowed well, and I was fairly pleased with them. The final stop motion film we produced as a group was really successful and I'm happy we went with the idea we did. I worked well as part of a group, as did everyone else as we shared out the roles equally.
After finishing the video work, I feel a lot more confident using recording equipment and if presented with the task again I think my work would be successful. It was interesting learning the different techniques and about the equipment, as it was a subject I've never really looked into before. My work shows everything I have learned, and I'm happy with the final outcome.
When we began the assignment we started on the photography side, and I don't feel my work is as good as it could be. I am going to redo this if I get the time, as I have a lot of research and idea's I'd really like to use.
Over this assignment, I have learned to use programs such as iMovie and Final Cut. I'd say I'm happy using iMovie, as it is simple and easy to use and I've used it a lot more. Using Final Cut was not as easy for me, and I'm going to need a lot more practice before I feel confident enough to say I could produce complicated work using it. We also used photoshop to create the original flyers, posters and album covers, and I am confident in using this, as I've had a lot of experience with it and feel if I had an idea I would be able to create it using this program.

UPDATE
I have revisited this assignment and updated a lot of things. I have redone all of my research on band photography, and added some to the stop motion research. It is all much more in depth, and I should have put it all on before as I did actually look at it while doing my work, I just didn't put it all on the blog as I wasn't used to working on them. I am really happy with my new final images for the photography section, and am happy I found a house style to go with that was influenced by my research. My research showed me what the general atmosphere was that bands like to give off, and I always thoroughly got to know the band I was working with so I could make it work perfectly for them. I have learned I am not a graphics person, and should definitely leave that to the experts. I just can't get my head around the simplest of techniques, even when I know exactly what I want!
Overall I am now completely happy with all of my final images and videos, and feel I have learned a lot by doing it.

Our Second Experimental Film

For this video we used a Sony HDV 3CCD camera. With this we were able to complete the techniques we couldn't on the flip camera. I found it a lot harder to use than the Flip Camera, although with a bit of practice we began to learn how it works. We had a few issues with getting it to record, but soon figured out where we were going wrong. We experimented a lot with the techniques we weren't able to achieve before, and now have evidence of experimenting with pulling focus, and maintaining focus while the subject is becoming closer. I'm happy with this video, and because we used people in it, it feels a bit more interesting. We enjoyed using this camera, and I would feel confident using it to create a planned video.

After we downloaded the video, we had to put it into iMovie as Final Cut wasn't working. With this we just created the video by piecing together the shots in the best order. When we came back next week however, Final Cut was working and we put the video into it, as well as a song. We then used the program to add music to the video, and I attempted to make it fit in with the timing. I feel this went well, although I could have used more appropriate music.
